The official blog of FrockShop.com
FrockShop’s most loved Australian labels certainly turned up the chic factor with industry greats Gary Bigeni, Zimmermann, Magdalena Velevska, Bec & Bridge, Aje and We are Handsome all delivering a fresh and visionary taste of what’s to come for Spring/Summer next season. Notable trends included unique prints, sheer detailing, impeccable drapery and clean-cut silhouettes.
Special mention must go to the style setters on Sydney’s streets, whose intrepid looks certainly impressed the likes of international photographers Tommy Ton, Candice Lake and Natalie Joos. Heel heights were raised, accessories were amplified and colours collided as cameras captured every stylish moment.

We are sad to see MBFWA 12 drawing to a close yet our eye lids and feet could definitely use some down time.
In the wrap-up we thought we would share some memories from the week that was.
Words to live by: Every week should be fashion week.
Gary Bigeni clearly had Yves Klein on the mind when designing his Summer 12/13 collection. Every shade of blue was on display including turquoise, cobalt, royal, aqua and sky broken up by shades of yellow, shocks of geometric prints and leather trimmings. The usual features characteristic to Bigeni designs were out in force, the collection coming together in an array of separates, silk fabrics, masterful silhouettes and drapings that honoured the womanly curve. Oh, and did we forget to mention Miranda Otto, Nikki Phillips, and Bryan Boy were front row?
Zimmermann did not disappoint with their floral pastel utterly wearable explosion that was their Cruise collection entitled ‘Clique Clique’. The collection echoed the times of the modern age in displays of digital prints, laser cuts, perforated textures, punctured sleeves, lattice fabrics, paint-splattered silks, patchwork floral and fishnet mesh. In usual Zimmermann style each garment was carefully considered and beautifully constructed. Interesting to note the hints of vintage oriental designs. As per the collection namesake – a small exclusive group of individuals sat front row including Kate Waterhouse, Gigi Edgley, Jodi Gordon and Now Manifest blogger Elin Kling.
Magdalena Velevska’s eye catching collection stunned against a sun-setting Sydney back drop. The collection was somewhat reminiscent of life of the acquatic, drawing inspiration from the concept of phosphorescence and taking special reference to the fluidity of the stingray. A palette of on trend neon yellow and bright white shone against more tonal charcoals, greys, tans and musky pinks. Magdalena’s signature detailing was in full swing with panels of detailed stiching, a distinct continuation of her previous Collections. Elin Kling, Tommy Ton, Phil Oh and Candice Lake were front row for the event.
