It was hard to believe that just last year Rachel Gilbert was showing at fashion week for the very first time. The collection entitled “Binding Measures” showcased her signature style while also revealing a more mature side to her designs, including an attention to detail that one would expect from a fashion veteran.
Classic cuts were brought to life with a subtle colour palette injected with splashes of this season’s new it-colour lime. Structured jackets, tapered pants, hints of sheer and heavily embellished skirts and dresses gave Rachel Gilbert’s designs a new directional edge.

Drawing inspiration from the Northern African landscape, Manning Cartel was all about rich earthy colours and crisp whites that exuded a sense of confidence and strength. With flowing layers and luxurious fabrics paired back with wide leg pants featuring extreme splits, the collection showed a new and diverse range for Manning Cartel that was truly flawless.

Therese Rawsthorne has effortless sophistication down to a fine art, with her collection inspired by Twin Peaks being no exception. There was a soft colour palette of crisp whites, wheat, and injections of muted colour throughout the collection that were . This subtle palette enabled her to create her signature twist of adding a hint of masculinity to a look that would usually be ultra feminine.

Fashion week is off to a stylish start and what better way to kick off the official start of RAFW than with a FrockShop favourite, Zimmermann.
Day one of RAFW was a huge success with some amazing new collections being showed, we have picked a few of our top highlights from day one. We couldn’t go past the likes of Zimmermann, Kirrily Johnston, Arnsdorf and Karla Spetic whose collections were simply stunning.
Zimmermann had us weak at the knees with their latest collection entitled Halcyon Days. The collection had a 70’s style feel about it with a fresh colour palette and stunning silhouettes. We loved the high necklines and low backs throughout the collection and the long jumpsuits that were feminine with a stylish edge.

Arnsdorf designer Jade Sarita Arnott did not disappoint with her signature use of colour through out the collection, whilst also incorporating neutrals tones. The highlight of her collection was her use of draping and silk creating a simplicity and elegance to her collection that was both effortless and memorable.

With the perfect setting Kirrily Johnston was already off to a great start, holding her show at the famous Icebergs at Bondi and attracting a star studded front row. With her strong colour palette including bronze and taupes there was nothing simple about this collection which depicted her signature style. The jewellery used through out the collection was a highlight with bold accessories featuring bright contrasting stones.

Colour was a distinct feature at the Karla Spetic show with bright greens, oranges and bold prints that gave it a retro feel. The collections bold prints where mix and matched and teamed with bright pops of colour, which was a definite highlight. With the best music and silhouettes that were to die for Karla Spetic was one of our favourites for the day.
