FS Top 10 Australian Best Dressed

Following our international best-dressed list, we decided to return to our roots and consider our local style stars. With so many innovative fashion and design figures, we pay tribute to the talented actresses, fashion editors and bloggers who have shaped Australian fashion in 2011.

1. Cate Blanchett

Sophisticated and impeccably polished, Cate has serious staying power in the fashion game. A risk-taker on the red carpet, she has truly earned her place amongst fashion’s elite.

2. Rose Byrne

Always elegant and oh-so sweet, Rose Byrne leads the Australian fashion pack with her classic style.  A standout at A-list events, she gives her look a modern edge with minimal accessories and understated styling.

3. Christine Centenera

Fashion editor for Harper’s Bazaar Australia, Christine Centenera’s enviable style transcends the pages of the coveted publication. One to play the fashion field, her street look mixes local finds with international labels.

4. Stevie Dance

Contribtuing editor for Oyster magazine, Stevie Dance has a beatnik style all of her own. A bohemian at heart, she teams one-off finds, custom denim pieces and vintage accessories to achieve her unique look.

5. Camilla Freeman

One half of design duo camilla and marc, Camilla’s own style reflects the feminine yet structural aesthetic of her label. A visionary in Australian design, she successfully teams neon, patterns and bold silhouettes to achieve her signature look.

6. Abbey Lee Kershaw

Eclectic and spirited, Australian model Abbey Lee has reinvented model off-duty style. Mixing retro prints, sheer fabrics and layer upon layer of accessories, more is certainly more with this style star.

7. Jess Hart

With her instantly recognizable smile and ultra cool fashion sense, Jess is the epitome of relaxed Australian style. Deconstructed by day and glamorous by night, there is no look the Myer model cannot pull off.

8. Nicole Warne

Noted blogger and creative director of Gary Pepper Vintage, Nicole Warne’s style mixes rare vintage finds with high-end labels. An ambassador for Australian fashion, her look is coveted on the international style scene.

9. Lara Bingle

10. Miranda Kerr

FS Top 10 International Best Dressed

Things heated up in FrockShop HQ this week as we reflected on the year that has passed in fashion and reviewed the best-dressed lists of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and all the editorials in between.

With so many standouts in the style stakes this year, we decided to compile our own best-dressed list for 2011. After hours of debate, we have refined our top 10 to honour a mix of new comers, established style stars and fashion revolutionaries.

1. Olivia Palermo

With an enviable wardrobe and social life to match, Olivia’s natural beauty and polished style is unrivalled.  Expertly mixing designer pieces and high street finds, this New York it-girl has rightfully earned first place on the FrockShop best dressed list.

2. Blake Lively

At the top of every A-list, Blake consistently shines on the red carpet whether she is dressed in Marchesa, Chanel or Valentino. Effortlessly glamorous, this all-American girl is as likeable as she is stylish.

3. Poppy Delevigne

The coolest girl on our best-dressed list, Poppy’s eclectic clash of international designer labels reveals adventures from social scenes around the globe. The English model is a constant source of style inspiration at FrockShop HQ.

4. Gwyneth Paltrow

A time-honored fashion icon, Gwyneth’s classic style choices put her at the top of every best-dressed list. Actress, singer, writer, charity ambassador, mother – is there anything this style star can’t do?

5. Taylor Tomasi-Hill

Style director of US Marie Claire, colour blocking and accessorising are high on this lady’s fashion agenda. A constant risk taker, Taylor’s revolutionary styling choices are praised by fashion editors and bloggers alike.

6. Hanneli Mustaparta

Norwegian model-turned-blogger Hanneli Mustaparta is a newcomer to the fashion scene, earning her spot in the fashion ranks by expertly teaming bold prints and adornments. Whether in front or behind the camera, Hanneli consistently delivers covetable looks.

7. Kate Bosworth

Former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, Carine’s quintessential French style inspires women across the globe. Her sophisticated style blends fashion and function, always with a chic finish.

10. Miroslava Duma

Freelance writer for leading fashion editorials, Miroslava’s style is a unique mix of design aesthetics. Interchanging bold patterns, textured pieces and structured staples, her ever-changing look keeps street photographers on their toes.

One to Watch: Alia Wang

We couldn’t resist mentioning the adorable niece of fashion designer Alexander Wang. This little fashionista will certainly be a style star to follow in the coming years.
