The official blog of FrockShop.com
As we’re busy supervising the installation (follow us on Twitter to take a peek behind the scenes) we thought we would share Kelly’s thoughts on blogging, personal style and inspirational influences.
When and why did you start blogging?
I don’t really remember! I think it was fairly soon after starting my website back in 2007.It took me a while to get my head around the idea of blogging an I deleted several of my first posts because most of it was just dribble. I consider blogging as just a fun way to share my new work with people who are interested in it as well as other bloggers and artists, but also to post the things that inspire me at the time.
How would you describe your personal style?
My style is actually pretty similar to my illustrative style; I wear alot of neutrals such as black, grey, and taupe that I pair with a few bright cardigans and scarves that I throw on to mix it up. I prefer to find pieces that suit my shape or that have an interesting cut or pattern. I like layering and I’m not really a ‘look at me’ sort of dresser.
What are your greatest fashion influences?
People wise? Designer wise? There’s a handful of people whose style I’m just in love with. Diane Kruger, Marion Cotillard, Sienna Miller, Kate Bosworth… Every now and then I see some sort of outfit combination of theirs and just think YES! I find most of my inspiration in the structure/cuts/fabrics. Fashion can be so theatrical and artistic and that’s what I love about it most. Not necessarily wearability or my own personal style, but more so just visually interesting pieces that I love to look at.
Whose closet would you raid if you had the chance?
Diane Kruger; the relationships she has had with various designers over the years obviously gives her the best access to different pieces, but her personal style is incredible. I think I would be perfectly happy to wear everything she owns! Give me 5 minutes and i’d clean her closet OUT. Mind you she’s teeny tiny so none of it would fit. Sigh.
