Guest Blog: Ellery SS2010-11

Fashion Week fatigue had begun to set in while I waited outside for the Ellery show. After a full day of shows and appointments, I was tired and hungry so the trek via cab to Alexandria felt like an eternity. But when the doors opened, we were greeted with ice-cream and I wondered if Kim Ellery had read my mind.

There’s every possiblity that she did; in a week of parades with pieces I feel I’ve seen before, Ellery’s SS2010-11 show was distinctive and relevant. Referencing the Zodiac and its many faces, the collection was diverse and of-the-moment.

Beaded minis and disco flares left the crowd speechless while the intricate makeup deserved a runway of its own. The elaborate blend of embellishments, leathers and feathers created a collection full of textural detail; Ellery’s best yet.
